As I followed my sister to her office, I was startled to see every person at the Army headquarters suddenly stand to attention! Why? She was company commander, and her rank (as evident from her uniform) required this response from all soldiers in the company. In a sense, we all wear uniforms that signal how others should respond to us.

Most people have little or no idea of the communication power of their clothing; however, scientific research tells us a lot about the power of clothing on people’s impressions and their behaviors.
